The achievement, completed on February 2, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya, required unbroken physical contact with a single tree for the full duration—any interruption would have disqualified her attempt.

Guinness World Records confirmed her as the verified record holder, surpassing the previous record of 24 hours and 21 minutes set by Ghanaian journalist Abdul Hakim Awal.

Muthoni’s preparation spanned over five months, including 42-kilometre walks, strength conditioning, and 12-hour practice sessions to build both stamina and mental resilience.

Speaking on Facebook, Muthoni said: “New Year comes with official Record Breaker Badge. Thank you, God. Thank you, Kenyans, for your support.”

Her record joins the global catalogue of human achievements documented by Guinness World Records, highlighting both endurance and environmental awareness.

Muthoni has also attempted a 72-hour tree-hugging challenge, which is currently under review for official recognition.
