Renowned Kenyan hip-hop artist Henry Ohanga, popularly known as Octopizzo, has officially thrown his hat into the political ring, declaring his intention to contest the Kibra parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a charged Winnie Odinga-led rally at Kamukunji Grounds, Octopizzo delivered a fiery address that left little room for doubt about his ambitions.
“Mimi siogopi Orero bro, nasimama Ubunge hapa Kibra 2027 na itakuwa mbaya,”
he roared to cheers from the crowd, directly daring the current Kibra MP Peter Orero.
Octopizzo, who has long branded himself as the voice of the ghetto, emphasized that his political journey is rooted in lived experience and advocacy for marginalized urban youth.
Octopizzo Sends Strong Message to ODM Leadership
In a separate post on X (formerly Twitter), the artist-turned-politician addressed the future of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), urging the party to embrace inclusivity and youth leadership.
“ODM is not a party defined by one community; it is a national movement that belongs to every Kenyan who shares its principles and values,” Octopizzo wrote.
He further argued that for ODM to remain relevant, it must deliberately open up decision-making spaces for younger leaders.
“To remain relevant and strong, the party must intentionally create space for young people at the negotiating table. We need fresh minds, energy, and representation that reflects the Kenya of today and tomorrow.”
