Renowned Kenyan comedian Erico Omondi has officially launched a nationwide youth mobilization initiative under the Youth 47 umbrella, signaling an early push to rally young people ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The movement, which draws its name from Kenya’s 47 counties, seeks to unite young people around a shared vision of political engagement and active participation in national discourse.
Eric Omondi Plans Town Halls Across All 47 Counties
According to the group, Youth 47 plans to roll out county-level town hall forums across the country, creating platforms where young people can engage on governance, leadership, and issues affecting their generation.
“This is about bringing young people together to birth a new generation of leadership,” Omondi said while explaining the vision behind the movement.
“We believe the time has come for a new type of leadership, for a new Kenya, for a new dawn. That is why we called upon young people from all over the 47 counties, hence Youth 47.”
Eric Omondi Potential 2027 Political Battle
The former Churchill Show comdian is widely reported to be eyeing the Lang’ata Member of Parliament seat, currently held by ODM’s Phelix Odiwour, popularly known as Jalang’o, who is also a fellow entertainer-turned-politician.
The launch of Youth 47 is being viewed as a strategic move that could lay the groundwork for Omondi’s political ambitions, particularly in mobilizing the youth vote, an increasingly influential bloc in Kenyan elections.
