Barcelona continued their dominance over Real Madrid with a pulsating 3-2 victory in the Spanish Super Cup final in Jeddah, sealing back-to-back titles and a record-extending 16th triumph in the competition.

In a frenetic Clasico played in Saudi Arabia, Brazilian winger Raphinha emerged as the decisive figure, scoring twice — including the match-winner in the 73rd minute — to hand Hansi Flick his latest piece of silverware since taking charge at Camp Nou.

Raphinha opened the scoring in the 36th minute, drilling a low effort into the bottom corner, before a chaotic spell of first-half stoppage time saw three goals shared between the rivals. Vinicius Jr levelled for Real Madrid with a dazzling solo run and finish — his first goal in 17 games — before Robert Lewandowski restored Barcelona’s advantage, only for Gonzalo Garcia to equalise moments later after a scramble in the box.

The decisive moment arrived midway through the second half when Raphinha’s floated effort found the net, capping an outstanding individual display and earning him the player-of-the-match accolade.

Barcelona were forced to dig deep late on after Frenkie de Jong was shown a straight red card for a lunging challenge on substitute Kylian Mbappe. Real pressed for an equaliser, with Marcus Rashford and Raul Asencio going close, but goalkeeper Joan Garcia held firm as Barca saw out the contest.

The win extends Barcelona’s remarkable run to 10 consecutive victories in all competitions and secures their first trophy of 2026. Flick’s side now sit four points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, underlining a growing shift in momentum between Spain’s two biggest clubs.

For Real Madrid, the defeat revives questions around consistency despite a recent upturn in form, while Barcelona once again proved decisive on the biggest domestic stage.
