Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola delivered a humorous post-match reaction after watching his side scrape past Fulham in a breathtaking 5–4 victory at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night.
The Cityzens appeared to be cruising early on, only for Fulham to mount a sensational late comeback that turned a near-routine evening into a nerve-rattling thriller.
City’s night began in ideal fashion as Erling Haaland struck his 100th Premier League goal just 17 minutes in, becoming the fastest player in history to reach the milestone.
The Norwegian continued to dominate the Fulham backline, linking up superbly to create Tijjani Reijnders’ goal before Phil Foden added City’s third.
Fulham Fights Back
But Fulham refused to fade quietly as Emile Smith Rowe’s header ignited the home crowd and set the stage for an unexpectedly tense second half.
City appeared to steady the ship when Jeremy Doku’s deflected strike restored a commanding 5–1 lead, yet Marco Silva’s side launched a remarkable resurgence.
Alex Iwobi pulled one back before Samuel Chukwueze struck twice in rapid succession, cutting the deficit to a single goal and sending Craven Cottage into a frenzy.
Fulham chased an equaliser with relentless pressure, and only Josko Gvardiol’s desperate late clearance prevented City from surrendering points.
Guardiola Jokes About Losing His Hair
As Guardiola entered his post-match press conference, he wasted no time offering a light-hearted reaction to the chaos he had just witnessed.
“Did you enjoy, guys? Nice, huh?!” He laughed to the room of reporters. And when asked if he personally enjoyed the match, Guardiola responded with a grin, stating, “Me?! My god! I lost my hair! My god!”
Reflecting on the match, he admitted he had no clear explanation for the dramatic collapse and recovery.
“I know you’re going to ask what happened – I don’t have an answer! It’s the Premier League, right? Football is emotions,” Guardiola said.
The drama leaves City still chasing Arsenal at the top of the table, with Guardiola now likely to prioritise defensive stability as the title race tightens.
