DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua has appealed to ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino to abandon the Orange Democratic Movement and align themselves with either the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) or Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party.
Speaking during a political event, Gachagua said the two Nairobi legislators risk losing relevance in the capital ahead of the 2027 elections.
Gachagua claims intrnal wrangles in ODM with President William Ruto’s association would be politically damaging.
“Great leaders like Sifuna have a place here in DCP,” Gachagua said.
“And if you feel uncomfortable, Babu and Sifuna — come to Wiper, our partner, no problem. But if you follow Ruto in ODM, you will get nothing in Nairobi.”
Gachagua insisted that ODM’s internal contradictions, particularly its divided stance on working with the Kenya Kwanza administration, would weaken the party’s prospects in Nairobi.
His remarks come amid heightened political realignments as parties position themselves for the 2027 general election, with Nairobi expected to remain one of the most competitive battlegrounds.
