Former Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage, Aisha Jumwa, has announced the death of her mother, Sidi, who passed away on Sunday after a short illness.
In a statement, Jumwa described her late mother as the pillar and heart of the family, saying she lived a life guided by love, kindness, and dignity.
“She was the foundation and soul of our family, living with compassion and humanity. Her memory will live on forever in our hearts,” she said, concluding with the Islamic prayer, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”
Jumwa, who currently serves as Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board, said the burial will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. at their home in Takaungu, Mnarani Ward, Kilifi North Constituency, Kilifi County.
Messages of condolence have continued to pour in from leaders and members of the public. Kilifi Governor Gideon Maitha Mung’aro described Mama Sidi as a nurturing parent and a role model in the community, while other leaders, including philanthropist Amina Mnyazi and Likoni MP Mishi Mboko, conveyed their sympathies and prayers to Jumwa and her family.
