City Lawyers Ombeta and Omari Drop Legal Threats Against Obinna

Prominent city lawyers Cliff Ombeta and Danstan Omari have withdrawn plans to take legal action against popular content creator Obinna, following talks over controversial remarks made by a law student on his show.

The two advocates had previously threatened to sue Obinna after law student and political commentator Adrian Oluoch made what they described as unfounded and damaging claims during a live broadcast.

The remarks sparked backlash online, with the lawyers accusing the show of providing a platform for misinformation.

However, speaking after a private engagement with Obinna, Ombeta confirmed that the matter had been amicably resolved and would not be pursued further.

“We have agreed. I told him I have no beef, I have no issues. I don’t want to follow on this matter. It has nothing really,” Ombeta said.

He added that prolonging the dispute would only worsen the situation.

“The damage can only be if we do not speak about it and it goes wild. But we have agreed that we let it go. It is water under the bridge,” he stated.

Ombeta also acknowledged Obinna’s role as a media personality, noting that the content creator had his own professional obligations.

“I have spoken to my friend here. He has a show to run and things to do,” he added.

Danstan Omari, who had also expressed displeasure over the remarks, is understood to have supported the decision to de-escalate the matter in the interest of dialogue and responsible discourse.

The resolution comes amid growing debate over the responsibility of digital media platforms and influencers in moderating commentary, particularly when legal professionals and public figures are involved.

For now, all parties appear keen to move on, with the lawyers signalling closure on the matter and Obinna continuing with his show uninterrupted.
