Mumias East MP Peter Salasya is facing criticism online after announcing a 10-day international tour to London and multiple U.S. cities. Social media users have questioned the cost of the trip, his allowances, and the transparency of his foundation.
When asked about his per diem, Salasya responded:
“It’s private, bossy.”
Other users challenged whether he is the sole beneficiary of the PK Salasya Foundation, which is funding the tour.
As I depart Kenya tonight, I embark on a ten-day international working tour across several strategic global cities ,London, Chicago, Dallas (Texas), Phoenix (Arizona), California, Las Vegas (Nevada), Miami, Florida, and Sedona.

Despite the backlash, Salasya says the tour aims to connect with the Kenyan diaspora, meet potential investors, and promote youth initiatives.
“Throughout this tour, I will engage Kenyans in the diaspora, international partners, and prospective investors as I share my broader presidential vision for a just, inclusive, and economically vibrant Kenya,” he said.
He added that the trip will sponsor the 4th PK Salasya Classic Cup, a youth sports tournament aimed at nurturing talent and promoting unity.
Salasya ended his statement with a prayer:
“May God bless Kenya. May God bless Mumias East.”
The tour comes amid heightened scrutiny over the role of politicians in diaspora engagement and foundation-led initiatives, with many online users calling for clearer reporting on costs and beneficiaries.
