Presidential hopeful Boniface Mwangi has launched a blistering attack on Kenya’s electoral institutions, claiming that the recent November 27 by-elections revealed systemic failures that threaten the country’s democracy.
Mwangi, in a detailed statement on X, argued that the by-elections served as a critical test for the ability of the IEBC to conduct free and fair polls.
Mwangi accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of acting negligently and unethically.
The 2027 Presidential hopefule claimed the commission ignored widespread corruption, including open voter bribery.
In Mwangi’s assessment he claims that the IEBC has demonstrated that it is not an independent institution capable of safeguarding the integrity of elections.
Mwangi directed equally sharp criticism at the National Police Service, accusing officers of abandoning their constitutional duty to protect all citizens.
The activist turned politician claimed that police blocked opposition candidates from campaigning and failed to intervene when they were attacked by hired goons.
