Geoffrey Mosiria, newly appointed Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service in Nairobi City County, began his first day in office with unannounced inspections across county health facilities, exposing staff absenteeism and operational lapses.
Mosiria, who was recently moved from the Environment docket to his new role, toured several hospitals, where he found stations unmanned and critical personnel missing from duty.
In a video widely shared on X, the Chief Officer is seen phoning absent staff members on the spot, questioning their whereabouts and reminding them of their mandate to serve the public.
Mosiria Issues Stern Warning
Following the visits, Mosiria issued a firm warning to employees who fail to report to work as required, stressing that absenteeism would not be tolerated under his leadership.
On his official X account, he posted, “To all Nairobi County employees, let us continue to prioritise our clients—the people of Nairobi and other Kenyans who seek our services. These are our bosses, and they deserve respect, dignity, and excellent service. In your day-to-day duties, ensure you make them happy by providing quality, timely, and professional services.”
His remarks signal the beginning of a stricter accountability drive within the county workforce, particularly in frontline service departments.
