Government Ministry Websites Hit by Cyberattack

Government ministry websites were hit by a cyberattack on Monday morning, leaving key portals defaced with encrypted extremist messages.

Websites for several critical government ministries have suffered a cyberattack on Monday morning, leaving many of them inaccessible and displaying defaced content.

Swith News has observed that access to a majority of the affected websites has been lost, with their visual appearance and official information replaced by unauthorized material.

Instead of normal website content, visitors were met with encrypted messages that read, “Access denied by PCP”, “We will rise again”, “White power worldwide” and “14:88 Heil Hitler.”

A screen grab of the content displayed on the Interior Ministry of Kenya’s website.

The Ministries under attack include Interior, Health, Education, Energy, Labour and Water as per reports.

The breach, which has remained active for most of Monday morning up to the time of publication, has severely disrupted access to critical government services that depend on these digital platforms.

The full extent of the damage and the identity of the attackers is yet to be known and the ministries are yet to issue any communictaion.
