Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has praised the performance of the party’s candidate, Stanley Karissa Kenga, following the conclusion of the Magarini Constituency by-election.
In a message shared after the results were announced, Gachagua congratulated Kenga for what he described as an impressive outing for a new political party with no previous presence in the Coast Region.
He stated that securing a strong second place was “more than acceptable” and marked an encouraging beginning for DCP’s expansion efforts.
Gachagua emphasized that Kenga’s showing gives the party valuable entry into the Coast political landscape.
Gachagua Announces Plans for Upcoming Holiday Season
He announced plans to spend the upcoming holiday season in the region, where he expects to meet potential aspirants, intensify grassroots mobilization and oversee the establishment of DCP party offices.
The DCP party leader celebrated Kenga’s performance, noting that the party was proud of the strides made in a competitive political environment.
The Magarini by-election concluded with Harrison Kombe of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) being declared MP-elect after garnering 17,909 votes.
Kenga, running under the DCP banner, came in second with 8,907 votes.
