Morara Kebaso Leaves Political Activism Career in Doubt After Online Rant

Morara-Kebaso

Kenyan activist and social media personality Morara Kebaso has announced his decision to step away from political commentary.

The internet political sensation cited growing frustration and disillusionment with the public’s complacency and misplaced expectations of leaders.

In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Kebaso declared that he would no longer engage in political debates or activism, saying he intends to watch events unfold “like other Kenyans.”

“This is the last time I’m saying anything political. From today hamtaniskia nikiwasumbua tena. Let me keep quiet and watch on TV like other Kenyans,” he wrote.

Because I’m almost going crazy out of being too concerned for people who don’t care about themselves. This is also your country. Do what you can do to save it,” he ädded.

In a follow-up video statement, Kebaso challenged citizens to abandon the belief that politicians will rescue them from the country’s socio-economic challenges.

“Nobody’s coming to save you. There’s nobody who’ll spend his 50,000,000 to be an MP or his 300,000,000 to be a governor or his 10,000,000,000 to be a president,” he said.

He criticized politicians for making false promises during campaigns, likening their rhetoric to “the promises of a naked man.”

“A naked man will promise you the whole world,” Kebaso quipped.

“I know they told you your community will benefit but when they say ‘community,’ they mean their rich friends within that community, not more than ten people.”

Morara Kebaso rose to prominence in mid-2024 through his bold grassroots activism, which involved exposing abandoned or stalled government projects across Kenya.

His creative approach — often impersonating President William Ruto in satirical videos — quickly gained traction online, earning him a large following and national recognition.

His content resonated with many Kenyans frustrated by corruption, mismanagement, and empty political promises.

However, his latest statement suggests a turning point in his activism journey, a shift from outspoken political critique to silent observation.
