Kenyan Man Arrested After Father’s Body Found in Hidden Grave

Police in Kitui, Kenya, have uncovered a body of a man allegedly killed and buried by his son, ending two-year family unfruitful search. Detectives say they have found his body buried in a shallow grave behind the family home — and his own son is under arrest.

Police in Kitui County identified the suspect as Musee Ngui, 36. They believe he killed his father, Ngui Ngunza, more than two years ago, then quietly buried him on their land in Nguuni village, Mwingi West.

At the time, relatives were told the elder Ngunza had travelled. “We kept asking questions but never got answers,” said one family member, who asked not to be named for safety reasons. “Now we finally know the truth, painful as it is.”

The breakthrough came only after Musee was detained last month in Matuu, Machakos County, where he had been in hiding. His arrest was prompted by separate accusations that he had sexually assaulted his two daughters.

During questioning, detectives say, Musee confessed to killing his father. He later led them to the grave, where the remains were exhumed under tight police watch. Villagers stood in stunned silence as officers unearthed the body.

“It is shocking, and it has left the whole village shaken,” said a neighbour, watching as officers sealed off the site.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations confirmed that Musee remains in custody. Prosecutors are preparing charges for murder and other related offences.

Relatives say the discovery has brought grim relief. “At least we can now lay him to rest properly,” another family member said. “All we want is justice.”
