Nottingham Forest have struck a £37.5 million deal to sign Omari Hutchinson, one of English football’s brightest young talents.
The 21-year-old winger, who has impressed for England’s Under-21s, will undergo a medical today before completing his move from Ipswich Town to the City Ground.
Forest see Hutchinson as a key addition as they prepare for a demanding season that includes both Premier League survival and a Europa League campaign.
“This is a signing that shows intent,” said a club source familiar with the negotiations. “We want to compete at the top level, and Omari fits perfectly into that vision.”
Hutchinson’s stock has risen sharply in the past year. At Ipswich, he became a fan favourite for his pace, quick feet, and ability to create chances out of nothing. His performances have drawn praise from former players and coaches, many tipping him for a senior England call-up in the near future.
For Ipswich, the move represents a record-breaking sale, underlining the club’s recent success in developing top-level talent. While fans will miss his flair, many have wished him well on social media, calling the transfer “a dream move” for the youngster.
Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo is expected to integrate Hutchinson quickly, with the winger potentially making his debut before the end of August.
Whether he can adapt to the demands of top-flight football and European competition remains to be seen, but the size of the investment leaves little doubt about Forest’s expectations.
