Ngong, Kenya -Police in Ngong have arrested a man accused of terrorizing couples and assaulting women in the quiet Vet Farm area, a popular spot for picnics and pilgrimages.
The suspect, believed to be a former Nairobi County inspectorate officer and resident of Embulbul, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning. Officers say he was found carrying a facemask, handcuffs, and other items they believe were used in the attacks.
“This is a major step towards justice for the victims,” Ngong Officer Commanding Station Jacob Ndunda told reporters. “We are urging anyone who may have been targeted to come forward and help with the investigations.”
According to police, the man is suspected of targeting couples visiting Vet Farm since 2022. In several incidents, he allegedly handcuffed the male partner before leading the woman into a nearby thicket, where the assault took place.
Vet Farm, on the outskirts of Ngong town, is a scenic location that draws church groups and young couples alike. But over the past three years, fear has crept into the community after repeated reports of attacks.
One local resident, who asked not to be named, said the news of the arrest brought “a sigh of relief” but also a reminder of the pain the victims endured. “We want him to face justice, but more importantly, we want to feel safe again,” she said.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigators piece together evidence and interview potential witnesses. Authorities say they will be seeking additional statements from anyone who may have information about the case.
For now, police are increasing patrols in Vet Farm and surrounding areas. “Our priority is ensuring the safety of the public,” Mr. Ndunda said. “This place should be a sanctuary, not a hunting ground.”
