Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has warned Mediheal Group CEO Swarup Mishra of looming legal action, including prosecution, deportation, and revocation of Kenyan citizenship, over alleged malpractice in the country’s health sector. CS Aden Duale issued the warning on Friday during the closing ceremony of the 15th Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) National Sports Competition held at Chebisaas Boys High School in Uasin Gishu County.

According to the CS, the Ministry of Health is awaiting the adoption of the Independent Investigation Committee’s report before taking further action. The committee was tasked with probing claims of malpractice at Mediheal facilities, including alleged involvement in organ trafficking and unethical conduct.

“If the report confirms what we already suspect, we shall act firmly,” CS Duale stated. “This government will not allow anyone, regardless of status or citizenship, to exploit Kenyans or damage the integrity of our health system.”

CS Duale cited provisions in the Kenyan Citizenship and Immigration Act that empower the government to revoke citizenship and deport individuals found guilty of serious violations of the law.

The health ministry has faced mounting pressure following widespread claims of unethical practices linked to organ transplant procedures and medical exploitation. Investigations are ongoing, with the final report expected to be made public soon.

CS Duale used the platform to reaffirm the government’s commitment to health reforms. Duale announced a partnership with the National Treasury aimed at securing long-term funding for KMTC students through the national budget. He also confirmed that the Ministry is working to eliminate clinical attachment fees and expand staffing at medical colleges.

“I commend Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for scrapping clinical attachment fees. I urge all public hospitals to follow this example,” CS Duale said.

Over 2,250 KMTC students from across the country participated in the week-long sports event under the theme Sports for Health and Cohesion #StrongerTogether.” CS Duale encouraged continued investment in sports and health infrastructure, stressing the importance of physical and mental wellness among healthcare workers.

The Independent Investigation Committee’s findings will determine the next steps in the case involving Mishra. Mediheal has yet to respond publicly to the CS’s statement.
