In the restless world of social media, one post can set off a storm. This week, Kenyan television and radio host Claudia Naisabwa did just that when she unveiled a 15-point birthday wish list on Instagram.
The list was anything but ordinary. It read more like a catalogue of luxury, featuring a Porsche Cayenne, the new MacBook Pro M4, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, and an Apple Watch Series 10. Fashion and beauty also made an appearance, with Swarovski jewellery, Versace perfume, an ALDO Celestica bag, and a bespoke gown designed by Kanazie.
She didn’t stop there. The final touches included requests for money and a trip to Malaysia. “In case you’re wondering what to get me for my birthday,” Naisabwa wrote, adding a playful wink to her bold declaration.
The reaction online was immediate and divided. Admirers praised her confidence and ambition. Critics questioned whether the post was extravagant, or even tone-deaf in tough economic times. Gossip sites ran with headlines calling her “too bold,” while others suggested it was nothing more than a clever publicity stunt.
To many who know her story, however, the wish list was less about excess and more about a journey. Naisabwa did not come from wealth. She started small, taking on minor jobs before landing her breakthrough on Wabebe XP at TV47, where she co-starred alongside Willis Raburu, Mc Gogo, and DJ Daffy. Her charisma quickly made her a household name.
Her rise was swift. Awards soon followed, including the Outstanding TV Personality of the Year at the Africa Women’s Award in Nigeria, and a nomination at the Pulse Awards. Today, she has added radio to her repertoire, co-hosting a prime slot with Brian Aseli at Nation FM.
For some, the list was a celebration of how far she has come. “Claudia is just manifesting her dreams,” one fan wrote. Others were less convinced. “It’s out of touch,” another commented.
Still, the post has placed Naisabwa firmly in the spotlight once again—something she has always seemed to handle with ease.
