Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has delivered a blunt assessment of his team, accusing his players of lacking unity and playing as individuals rather than a cohesive side.

Speaking after Madrid’s underwhelming performance over the against PSG, Alonso did not hold back.
“There’s no unity among the players,” he said in a post-match press conference. “They play as individuals, not as a team.”
The remarks have sent shockwaves through the football world, given Madrid’s reputation for discipline, teamwork and silverware. Though the club reached the Fifa club world cuo semi- Final, recent performances have drawn criticism for their disjointed style and lack of fluidity.
With a locker room full of elite talent -from Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Jr. to Mbape – fans expect more than just flashy footwork and moments of brilliance. Many believe Alonso’s frustration is a sign of deeper issues at the Bernabéu.
“He’s right,” said Luis Gutiérrez, a former Real Madrid midfielder turned pundit. “When you watch them, you don’t feel the spirit we used to have. Everyone wants to shine, but no one wants to fight for each other.”
Others argue Alonso may be deflecting blame after failing to get the best out of his squad since taking over from Carlo Ancelotti at the start of the season. “It’s his job to build unity,” said Ana Beltrán, a columnist for Marca. “Pointing fingers at players might only make things worse.”
Not the First Time
This isn’t the first time concerns over dressing room harmony have emerged at Madrid. The club’s recent history has been marked by superstar egos and shifting dynamics. But Alonso, known for his cool demeanor and football intelligence, was expected to bring calm and order.
Now, some are wondering whether the former midfield maestro has lost control of the dressing room altogether.
