Ruto Tells Off Political Rivals Over Plot to Topple Government, Reaffirms 2027 Election Path

President William Ruto has delivered a sharp warning to opposition leaders he accuses of planning to disrupt his government through unlawful means. Speaking during an inspection tour of the Kilimani Police Housing Project in Nairobi, Ruto stated clearly that any bid to seize power outside the electoral process will fail.

“If anyone has political ambitions, let them prepare for 2027. There will be no shortcuts in between,” Ruto said on Tuesday. “This country will not be destroyed by a few impatient people trying to change government through unconstitutional means. It’s not going to happen.”

The President’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions following recent protests across the country that left property damaged and business operations disrupted. He accused unnamed opposition leaders of orchestrating chaos as part of a broader campaign to destabilize the country.

“I’ve seen some leaders moving around claiming they won’t wait for 2027,” he added. “They want to cause chaos, destroy property, and bring suffering to Kenyans to force a regime change. Let them try, and they’ll learn the hard way.”

Ruto emphasized that leadership in Kenya is determined only through democratic elections not through threats, riots, or destruction. He warned that attempts to incite civil unrest would be dealt with decisively.

“We cannot allow violence, bloodshed, or destruction to dictate the future of Kenya. That path leads nowhere,” he said. “Anyone thinking they can hijack the system should think again.”

He vowed to protect Kenyans and safeguard national progress. “I will protect lives and property. That is the duty of this government under my leadership,” he said. “The era of burning businesses and tearing down what we’ve built must end.”

In his address, the President also took issue with opposition leaders who, he claimed, showed restraint under past presidents but now act aggressively toward his administration.

“Jomo Kenyatta, Moi, Kibaki, and Uhuru all led this country. None faced this level of disrespect. Why now? What is driving this arrogance?” Ruto asked. “Let’s resolve our disagreements without tribalism, pride, or contempt. We are all Kenyans.”

Despite the tension, Ruto reiterated his commitment to advancing Kenya’s development agenda. He said his focus remains on economic transformation and that threats or political noise will not derail that goal.

“You can call me names, but I will deliver peace and stability in this country by all means necessary,” he said.

President Ruto’s statement comes as the political climate grows more charged ahead of the 2027 general elections. His administration continues to face criticism over the high cost of living and unpopular policies, but he remains firm that only the ballot box will decide Kenya’s leadership.
