NAIROBI — President William Ruto has warned political leaders against inciting youth to violence, accusing them of pushing an agenda that fuels chaos without offering real solutions.

Speaking Thursday in Embakasi East during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Bridge Savannah–Stage 17–Masimba Road, Ruto urged Kenyans to reject politicians who thrive on tribalism and disruption.

“Some leaders don’t know how we’ll grow food, create jobs, or improve healthcare,” Ruto said. “Instead, they incite young people to destroy property and disrupt peace. These leaders have no plan.”

He called tribal incitement and divisive politics outdated and dangerous, saying they only serve to block development and destabilize the country.

Ruto announced that the government will double youth employment under the Affordable Housing Program from 300,000 to 600,000 over the next three months. He said the initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to address unemployment and spur economic growth through infrastructure development.

“We are scaling up construction work across the country to give young people jobs and boost trade,” he said.

In Nairobi, the President said at least 70 kilometers of roads will be constructed during the first phase of an urban improvement plan. He also pledged that construction of a new stadium at Jacaranda Grounds will begin in September.

Remarks that echo his sentiments on Thursday July 10 while hosting Nairobi United Football Club at State House following their Mozzart Bet Cup victory, Ruto reinforced his call for responsible leadership.

“I challenge my opponents to offer the youth a better alternative. Let their solutions be compared to my plan for jobs and growth,” he said. “Empty slogans won’t fix the economy.”

Ruto added that as Head of State, the Constitution obligates him to protect life and property. “That’s not negotiable. I will enforce the law firmly and fairly,” he said.

He praised Nairobi United’s dedication and success, committing to donate a bus and support the team’s growth. “You stayed focused, overcame pressure, and now you’re champions. Kenya is proud of you,” he said.

The President also condemned the vandalism of Talanta Stadium during recent protests, describing the act as “unpatriotic and reckless.”

He said the government is committed to improving Nairobi’s living conditions, including upgrading roads, clearing garbage, and cleaning the Nairobi River, which is scheduled to be fully restored by 2027.

“Nairobi is home to the UN Environmental Programme. It must reflect that status clean, organized, and functional,” Ruto stated.

The President reiterated his commitment to building a united, developed Kenya, free from political violence and driven by productivity.
