He doesn’t ask for your attention—he grabs it.
Shirt off. Voice booming. Backflipping mid-air.
Then comes the war cry: “JELEEL! YEAH!”
If you’ve scrolled through TikTok lately, chances are you’ve seen him loud, shredded, and shirtless screaming his name and delivering wild bursts of energy with every frame. That’s JELEEL!, the viral sensation and genre-bending rapper taking over social media feeds and festival stages alike. He doesn’t just land on your For You Page he explodes onto it. Shirtless, screaming his own name, flipping mid-air and yelling through the screen, JELEEL! is unlike anything else on TikTok right now. And somehow, in a world of endless content, this 28-year-old Nigerian-American rapper has managed to stop the scroll.
Born Abdul Jeleel Yussuf in Providence, Rhode Island, JELEEL! grew up in Pawtucket in a Nigerian household where performance, rhythm and energy came naturally. He attended La Salle Academy and later Loyola University Maryland before eventually dropping out to chase music full time. What started as quiet releases on SoundCloud quickly transformed into a full-blown career. But it wasn’t until 2021 that things truly took off.

That was the year he dropped “Dive In!” a short, ferocious track packed with explosive vocals and gym-ready aggression. TikTok caught wind, and the app did the rest. The song has now racked up over 50 million streams on Spotify and continues to fuel tens of thousands of user-created TikToks.
Then came the flood:
- “UNCIVILIZED! (GO!)” – A mosh-ready anthem with animalistic chants
- “STONE COLD!” – A tribute to WWE wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin, complete with a wrestling belt in the music video
- “DELIVER!” – Shouting affirmations over distorted bass
- “JELEEL JUICE!” – One of his most recent singles, pure gym-rage energy
- “RIDE THE WAVE!” – Melding melodic vocals with rage trap
And of course, “JELEEL YEAH!” — a title, a lyric, a signature line. It’s how he starts and ends most of his tracks and TikTok videos. Fans know it by heart. He doesn’t just say it. He yells it.
“JELEEL! YEAH!” — it’s not just a catchphrase. It’s a brand.
On TikTok, his official account (@jeleelyeah) has become a phenomenon in itself. With over 4.3 million followers and nearly 260 million likes, JELEEL! doesn’t just post he performs. Every video is a blast of high-octane visuals, usually filmed shirtless, in odd places, or while yelling his name into the lens. His videos feel as spontaneous as they are strategic. That energy has made him one of the platform’s most recognisable faces, often appearing on FYPs even without promotion.
But JELEEL!’s appeal isn’t just noise. His music fuses rap, punk, trap and hyper-pop with unrelenting enthusiasm. As Ones To Watch described, it’s “chaotic, melodic, and refreshingly raw.” He calls it “rage music,” and it shows from his vocal delivery to the body-slamming stage performances that often include backflips, sprints and ripped shirts.

“I used to watch WWE and anime as a kid,” JELEEL! told The FADER in a 2022 interview. “So all of that energy kind of shaped what I do on stage.” And fans seem to love it. At Rolling Loud, he pulled off a backflip in front of thousands. Online, people regularly record spotting him mid-jog in random cities, always shirtless and still somehow in character.
His sound isn’t for everyone. Some critics find it overwhelming, even repetitive. But even sceptics admit his live shows are electric. One Reddit user wrote, “His music isn’t that great, but his shows look fun. That’s why he’s working.”
Part of what makes JELEEL! so fascinating is that, despite the high volume, he’s grounded. He’s spoken openly about injuries from his stunts and the toll of constant performance. But for now, he’s all in. “I want to make people feel strong,” he once said. “Like they can do anything.”
With more viral tracks already spinning across TikTok including the fan favourite “Tie Me Up” and rumours of a sophomore album underway, JELEEL! is showing no signs of slowing down. He may have broken through by yelling his name, but it’s what he’s built after that shout that’s keeping people listening.
In a time when music careers are often made or broken by seconds-long clips, JELEEL! has mastered the moment. And somehow, made it feel like it’s only the beginning.
