Boston – DCP party leader and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is in Boston USA on a two-month tour meetings and engagements with the diaspora pledging to engage Kenyans abroad on the country’s political and economic future.

Gachagua, joined by his wife Pastor Dorcas, arrived at Logan International Airport on Thursday and was welcomed by Kenyans residing in the city. In a post on his X account, he wrote, “In the company of my spouse @Pastor_Dorcas, we arrived in Boston to meet Kenyans who live and work here. We will discuss matters Kenya and bring our minds together on how to make our country better again.”
This visit marks Rigathi Gachagua’s first international trip since his impeachment and removal from office in October 2024. He was ousted following a Senate vote that upheld allegations of abuse of office and gross misconduct. Gachagua has consistently dismissed the charges as politically motivated.
His U.S. schedule includes planned engagements in Dallas, California, Seattle, and Baltimore. According to information shared by his team, Gachagua intends to host town halls, meet with American business leaders, and participate in cultural gatherings. The tour is expected to focus on his assessment of Kenya’s governance, economic outlook, and future direction.
Speaking briefly to reporters in Boston, Gachagua emphasized the importance of dialogue with Kenyans abroad. “The diaspora plays a critical role in shaping the country’s economy and ideas. We must involve them in conversations about Kenya’s future,” he said.
The trip comes at a time when Kenya is grappling with economic instability, rising public debt, and growing political polarization. Gachagua’s tour is seen as an effort to reestablish his political relevance and reconnect with supporters beyond Kenya’s borders.
Further engagements are expected over the coming weeks as the former deputy president continues his tour across U.S. cities with large Kenyan populations.
