NAIROBI — A Nairobi court has issued an arrest warrant for Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi after he failed to appear in court Wednesday for plea taking in a case tied to a staged abduction. The MP is accused of faking a kidnapping incident in an apparent attempt to avoid arrest over a land fraud investigation ongoing at Kiambu Law Courts.

Koimburi is wanted alongside two other individuals who also skipped the scheduled court session. Meanwhile, four suspects linked to the same case were arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts. Grace Nduta Wairimu, the Member of County Assembly for Kanyenya-ini ward, appeared alongside Peter Kiratu Mbari, David Macharia Gatana, and Cyrus Muhia.

The four were charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice and providing false information to a police officer. They denied the charges and were each released on a bond of Ksh 300,000.According to court documents, the prosecution alleges the group coordinated a plan to falsely report Koimburi as missing in a bid to delay legal proceedings tied to the land case. Police said the alleged abduction was staged to mislead investigators.

The case will be mentioned again on July 30, 2025.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is now under instruction to track down Juja MP Koimburi and his two co-accused for immediate arrest.
