Top Golfers Set to Battle at Ruiru Legendary Golf Tournament

The Legendary Golf Tournament at Ruiru Golf Course commences this weekend, attracting over 320 golfers from across the country. Stephen Lokonyo, Sophie Mbochi, James Ngambi, and Kibera Maina are some of the exciting players expected to feature in this year’s edition.

Tee-off will begin early on Saturday, September 14, with the first group starting at 6:40 am on the 18-hole par-73 course, followed by an afternoon round starting at 10:50 am and continuing until 1:30 pm.

Ruiru Club Captain JK Muraguri expressed excitement over the event, assuring all participants the course was in excellent condition and greens primed for an enjoyable competition.

“We are delighted to host some of the biggest names in the sport this weekend during the legendary golf day in Ruiru. We have partnered with some of the top corporate brands to organize this amazing journey that will see the winners grab top prizes. Our course is in good shape, and the greens offer an enabling environment for players to compete,” said Ruiru Club Captain, JK Muraguri

Organized by the Legendary Golfers group, a diverse collective of professionals united by their passion for golf, the event promises a day filled with competitive play and entertainment, culminating in an evening of live band music.

Rhodah Mukami, fresh off her victory at the IPF Golf Tournament with an impressive 41 Stableford points, is among the top players to watch, alongside seasoned golfers Bernard Omondi, Joe Muendo, and Beatrice Waweru. Mukami, confident after her recent win, expressed her determination to continue her impressive form at the tournament.

“I am looking forward to picking up from where I left having won over 240 top amateurs. It is going to be a very tough battle against the best golfers in the country, but I believe with my experience and a good run of form I will emerge victorious in this tourney. My swing is there, and I intend to make a statement right from the onset,” said Ruiru-based player, Rhoda Muhunyo.

This event is part of a series of activities hosted at the Ruiru Sports Club, which has been a hub for various corporate-sponsored tournaments throughout the year.
