Speaking to the gathering, Mr. Kuria blamed the Deputy President for the rift in the region’s leadership and the dwindling political stake in the Kenya Kwanza regime.

“During the recent appointment of Cabinet Secretaries, you saw other people bring their Superstars. You saw Joho, Oparanya, Mbadi. This is because we started to fight among ourselves. The main award we can win for the past two years is for fighting among ourselves,” he said.

He further added that the Deputy President was to be blamed for the dwindling fortunes of the Mount Kenya political class. “Even before he started fighting legislatures and leaders from other regions, he was already sowing discord in our region’s leadership,” he said, of the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua.

However, one social media user @GitongaMungai said, “Moses Kuria and Gachagua always remember the Mt Kenya People when their work is at risk.”

Another, @Mbuthisrev said, “How can he be a msaliti when you loose your job? Why didn’t he resign before the dissolution of the cabinet? He fought with the DP for Mt Kenya supremacy instead of working collectively to deliver. How dare you listen to such jokes in a burial and take them serious? Inachosha !”

The deputy president in the past has been critical of Mount Kenya’s leadership, particularly of former president Uhuru Kenyatta who is viewed as the de facto Kingpin of the region. However, during a recent interview, the DP said that he was now on good terms with Uhuru after asking the former president for forgiveness of past political scuffles and public humiliations.
