The facility, previously known as West Maternity Hospital, is centred around mother-and-child care. It has an in-patient wing with a bed capacity of 70. It also has a paediatric ICU and newborn unit as well as a paediatric department.

The hospital hosts gynaecologists, general physicians and paediatricians. What’s more? It will have a mental health department for expectant mothers. There will be counselling psychologists and psychiatrists ready to guide the mothers through their transition as they bring forth new life.

The speaker of the county assembly of Uasin Gishu Philip Muigei was also in attendance along with a few MCAs such as the MCA for Moi’s bridge and Kapseret wards.

Mama Rachel Ruto Hospital is well equipped. Despite it being a public hospital, it is equipped like a private hospital. The United States government through USAID provided essential equipment to the hospital as well as training for the staff to ensure top-notch service delivery.

The facility contains state of the art equipment worth Ksh 1 Billion donated by the French government. The hospital, on June 10, received a consignment of drugs worth 37 million from KeMSA.

The county governor called for help to expand the hospital to a baby care hospital. The hospital sits on Kiplombe Ward and continues to be open to the public.
