Tyla Releases Jump Music Video

22 year old South African musician Tyla released the Jump music video on May 20. The video is currently trending at number 26 in Kenya. Speaking to Allure as they filmed her getting ready for the Met Gala, she intimated that the video was shot in South Africa.

The song, which is a collabo with Gunna and Skillibeng, has a dancehall feel to it. Tyla also has other songs out. They include ART, Truth or Dare and the one that made her a global name, Water.

Her song Water got her a Grammy award for the Best African Music Performance earlier this year. Her performance in the industry is impressive, considering for that award she came up against Ayra Starr in Rush and Davido featuring Musa Keys in Unavailable. She eventually beat them both.

Water entered the Billboard Hot 100 in 2023, making history because the last time a South African solo artist did that was in 1968. That was Hugh Masekala.

Tyla is also the highest-charting African female solo musician in Billboard History after her song made it to number seven.

She recently stunned the world with the dress she wore to the Met Gala. The dress was sand made into a fabric. It was so constraining that she had to be carried up the stairs. To match her dress, she had shimmery eye shadow and shimmery body make-up done. Her outfit and make-up alluded to the colour of sand.

The concept was sands of time and an hourglass. Tyla’s body was the hourglass on which the sand fabric was placed. Immediately after the Met Gala the internet was abuzz with photos and videos of her . She understood the assignment.

Tyla’s real name is Tyla Laura Seethal. She was born and raised in South Africa. The musician is a middle child of five and is mixed race. She has Indian, Zulu, Mauritian and Irish roots.
