Dave Chappelle is coming to Kenya. His show is set to be at the Louis Leakey Auditorium, Nairobi on Wednesday May 29. Tickets were available yesterday, and within a record two hours they were sold out. What is ironical is that as many Kenyans complain about the burden of taxation, others are able to make his event tickets that went for Ksh. 7000 sell out within minutes.
The event will be a phone-free event, as is his custom, according to organisers. He will be hosted by the Punchline Comedy Club. Chappelle has reportedly walked off the stage before after he caught a fan recording him using a cell phone. This he did in anger. He then explained to other fans present why he has a no phones policy at his events. He is reported to have equated a phone being pointed at him to a gun.
There was no post about the event on his personal page. The event poster went up on Punchline Comedy Club’s Instagram page. It is scheduled to start at 8 pm. Doors open at 7 pm.
Chappelle is a stand-up comedian and actor based in the US. He was born on August 24, 1973. He had a small role in the 1996 movie The Nutty Professor. He hosted Saturday Night Live in both 2016 and 2020. To add to his accomplishments, he won an Emmy award as outstanding guest actor in a comedy series for both of those appearances. He has received a Grammy award for best comedy album.
1n 2018, Chappelle had a supporting role in the film A Star Is Born. He also holds the Mark Twain Prize for American Humour. In total, he has won four Grammy awards.
With regard to his personal life, he is married to Elaine Chappelle and has three children. His children are Ibrahim, Sanaa and Sulayman.
