Manoah Esipisu, the former State House Spokesperson, has completed his six-year term as Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. He shared on social media that he’s leaving his post at No. 45 Portland Place in London, where he was appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Esipisu thanked President William Ruto for allowing him to continue in this role and expressed gratitude for the chance to serve in diplomatic and communication capacities within the government.
Manoah Esipisu was appointed by Uhuru in 2018 after serving as State House Spokesperson during Uhuru’s initial presidential term. Despite a fallout with Uhuru and Ruto taking over in 2022, Esipisu was among the few diplomats retained by Ruto, a move unexpected in the typically politically driven arena of diplomatic appointments.
Ruto refrained from replacing Esipisu despite expectations that he would install his appointees. Instead, Ruto made reshuffles among existing diplomats, leaving Esipisu in his role.
Recently, Esipisu received recognition as the diplomat of the year at a London event alongside nine other UK-based diplomats. He credited his success to the support from his colleagues at the Kenyan Mission, his wife, and his family during his acceptance speech at the Diplomat Magazine’s 14th-anniversary awards ceremony in April.
