The initiative is seen as a significant step towards boosting integration and socioeconomic development within the East African Community (EAC). It aims to bring together investors and citizens from the region. MC Telecom Chairman, Sam Yongo, emphasized the importance of cross-border investments to enhance regional integration.

As urban areas in the EAC are experiencing population growth, there is a growing need for infrastructure development, particularly housing and facilities. The project is envisioned to cater to this burgeoning population, offering quality and affordable housing for middle and upper-class citizens.

The construction of Kasangulu Smart City is expected to be completed by 2027. It’s perceived as a transformative initiative that not only elevates the real estate market in the DRC but also contributes to the broader regional development within the EAC.
