The exercise is part of Kenya’s landscape and ecosystem restoration program which aims to plant 15 billion trees countrywide.
In a Gazette notice dated November 6th, 2023, and signed by Interior CS Kithure Kindiki it reads that the public shall be engaged in tree growing exercise country-wide next week Monday 13th, November, 2023.
There will be a designated national venue for the tree-planting exercise presided over by His Excellency Dr William Samoei Ruto the President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-In-Chief-of-the Defence Forces.
There will also be 47 county venues presided over by Cabinet Secretaries and Governors where all Kenyan citizens and the general public shall be expected to participate in the tree-planting exercise.
