The 2023 MTV VMA awards that were held on Tuesday had the glitz and glam to the fullest. The awards were being hosted by the Super Freaky Girl hitmaker, Nicki Minaj. The awards had a number of history-making moments from the nominees to the categories.
This year, the MTV VMA Awards welcomed the new category of Best Afrobeats. This is something that was also added to the Grammy Awards category. The Artist of the Year nominees made history since the category was introduced back in 2017, with all nominees being women.
Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Karol G, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, and Shakira were all nominated for the Artist of the Year award. Taylor Swift boasts of the most nominations of 11. Other top nominees include Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Dona Cat, SZA, and Nicki Minaj.
This year’s awards are set to present lifetime awards to iconic artists. The Video Vanguard Award to Shakira and the Global Iconic Award to Diddy. Adding to the magnificence of the awards this year is the celebration of women and non-binary artists.
Red carpets are moments where celebrities get to show off their fashion sense of style as they partner up with fashion designers for couture looks. The MTV VMA Awards were full of the best red carpet-moments.
The theme seemed to be lace and sheer. With many of the celebrities living little to the imagination. Of course, every red carpet has risky fashion and the list of those who went all out with risk is extensive.

The risky fashion of the night was worn by; Ice Spice, Tinashe, Lil Nas X, Yung Miami, Carol G, Bebe Rexha, Doja Cat, Doechil, Emily Ratajkowski, Audrey Trulinger, and Laura Perlongo. On the other hand, the carpet was full of best-dressed celebrities.
The best fashion moments were done by; Selena Gomez, Cardi B, Offset, Taylor Swift, Tiffany Haddish, Olivia Rodriguez, Dixie D’Amelio, Meghan The Stallion, Nicki Minaj, Shakira, and Saweetie.
