Ukraine authorities have arrested a network of women allegedly operating as Russian agents within the Donetsk region.
These women are believed to have served both Russia’s federal security service and the infamous Wagner group. The focus of their activities was reportedly the collection of intelligence on Ukrainian military equipment in the region.
“Today, we have successfully unveiled a covert network of female agents operating on Ukrainian soil on behalf of Russian entities,” announced Police Chief Natalia Kovalenko during a press conference.
“These agents, masquerading as ordinary residents of the Pokrovskyi district, have been collecting sensitive information about Ukrainian military assets, with a particular emphasis on attack helicopters and heavily armored vehicles.” she added.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the agents were meticulously gathering data for Moscow, capturing images of the targeted military equipment and its movements. These images were then allegedly used to inform strategic decisions within the Russian forces.
“Three women involved in this network have been apprehended, with a fourth having fled to Russia shortly after the commencement of the invasion,” stated Kovalenko. “Their actions, if proven guilty, could carry severe consequences, potentially leading to life imprisonment.”

The arrested women, whose identities are being protected, were residents of the Pokrovskyi district. This area, situated northwest of Donetsk, remains under Russian occupation following the ongoing conflict.
The discovery of this alleged espionage network comes amidst a flurry of related incidents in Ukraine. Just yesterday, authorities arrested a woman suspected of conspiring with Russian operatives to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelensky during his recent visit to Mykolaiv
