Travis Scott to Make First Tour Since Astroworld Tragedy

Travis Scott

Nearly two years after the Astroworld incident, which happened during American rapper Travis Scott’s disastrous Houston concert and resulted in 10 fatalities and several injuries in 2021, Travis Scott is preparing to perform once more.

Travis Scott’s Utopia — Circus Maximus Tour will hit the road this year and visit 28 locations before the year is up. The promotional tour for his most recent album, “Utopia,” will begin in Charlotte, North Carolina, on October 11, and will travel around North America until Dec. 29.  The rapper promises to “transport fans into an unparalleled audiovisual experience.” On November 5, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the rapper will give his biggest headlining performance to date.

The tour comes after Scott’s live performance at the Circus Maximus in Rome, Italy, at the beginning of the month, which sold out 60,000 tickets in only two days and caused earthquake fears. According to a statement made by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner earlier this month, “Travis Scott and his promoters planned a concert for the Toyota Center in October. The concert will be held somewhere else than the Astroworld Festival at NRG in 2021.

Since the fatal Astroworld Festival, which the rapper both organized and headlined, this announcement marks Scott’s first formal tour. The audience members present for Scott’s performance were squashed, and many were gasping for air as they crammed close to the stage, quickly resulting in mayhem. Later, the unrest led authorities to label the concert a “mass casualty event.”

After the tragic incident, Scott issued a statement in which he expressed his “distraught by the situation and desperately wishes to share his condolences and provide aid to (the victims) as soon as possible.”
