American rapper Lizzo, is on the spot after being sued by her former dancers for alleged sexual harassment, weight shaming and disability discrimination.
The Truth Hurts hitmaker, Lizzo, built her career around body positivity. Consequently, this new revelation risks damaging her brand and reputation. In a lawsuit filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Crystal Williams, Arianna Davis and Noelle Rodriguez alleged that they were subjected to a wide range of mistreatment, while working with Lizzo. They have accused the singer of creating a ‘hostile and abusive work environment.’
In addition, the dancers are also suing Lizzo’s production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring and dance captain, Shirlene Quigley. One of the plaintiff claims that she was subjected to racial and religious discrimination. She made an allegation that an accountant from BGBT’s primarily white management team discriminated against the black dancers by scolding them for alleged ‘unacceptable and disrespectful’ behavior while on tour.

The plaintiffs claim that the dance captain, Shirlene, often shared her sexual fantasies and detailed stories about her masturbatory habits. Shirlene allegedly occasionally took breaks to demonstrate her oral sex skills with a banana in front of the dance crew. They also claimed that Shirlene constantly preached about her Christian views during dance practice.
One of the other claims in the lawsuit include, an instance that occurred in Amsterdam’s Red Light District in February. The plaintiffs claim Lizzo forced them to take turns in touching the nude performers at an adult club. They also claimed that Lizzo ‘badgered’ one of her security guards into hopping on stage and pulling down his pants, during the outing.
Lizzo, Shirlene and BGBT are yet to make a comment or release a statement.
