Uasin Gishu Woman Representative, Gladys Boss Shollei, has separated herself from the Finland Scholarship Saga mentioning that she was not aware of what was happening.
Days after Jackson Mandago was arrested and charged alongside Meshack Rono and Joshua Kipkemboi, she expressed her sentiments regarding lack of involvement in the saga.
Consequently, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly called for the shutdown of the airlift program. This follows the arrest and charge issued to Mandago. In addition to that, the airlift program has been shut down due to the lack of funds to take them to Finland and pursue further studies.
She added that the parents who had paid the money needed to be reimbursed the money. This is in line with the comment the President, William Ruto, mentioned during the devolution conference which commenced in Uasin Gishu county.

“I was deliberately quiet because I did not know how this happened. When I sought information on what transpired, I did not get the right information from the right authorities,” she stated.
She continued by mentioning that her search for further details and information has bore no fruit since she has had difficulties acquiring accurate details from the appropriate sources. Furthermore, she mentioned that the existing administration ought to have guided the students as the administration was the one in charge of the accounts.

According to the lawmaker, Mandago did not put in place a detailed framework. He did not inform the parents about the additional costs they would be required to meet after the students were taken to Finland for their education.
“I did not know how everything happened. I refrained from commenting due to unfamiliarity with the matter,” she says.
Furthermore, she mentioned that she heard about Harambees being held in different parts of her home county. She however was not curious enough to seek additional information for the project being held. Gladys stated that she was only aware of the scholarship status which was public knowledge.
Mandago, alongside two others, has been released on a cash bail of Ksh 500,000 after denying the ten charges they were accused of by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
