A family of four, with two toddlers, was discovered dead inside their Upper West Side apartment in New York from what appeared to be stab wounds in what was likely a murder-suicide.
According to police from the New York Police Department (NYPD), a man and a woman, aged 41 and 40, and their children, ages 3 and 1, were discovered dead inside their apartment after a wellness check on Monday afternoon. Sources say that the police are investigating the possibility of the case being a murder-suicide.

A representative for the NYPD informed news organizations that at 2:56 PM on Monday, police officers were summoned for a wellness check on 86th Street by a family member. Officers from the New York Police Department (NYPD) were able to enter a fourth-floor apartment with assistance from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), where they found four people dead, two adults and two children.
Both adults were discovered to have suffered neck injuries. According to the NYPD spokesperson, the one-year-old and the three-year-old both suffered injuries to their bodies, the three-year-old having suffered trauma to the torso.
CBS News reported that the injuries sustained by the victims were consistent with stab wounds, according to sources close to the NYPD. Police have started an investigation into the incident, and the medical examiner arrived on the scene to begin establishing the causes of the victims’ deaths.

According to CBS New York, the 41-year-old victim worked as the building’s superintendent for a number of years.
