The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition has reached out to the Kenya Kwanza dialogue delegation led by Kimani Ichung’wa. A letter, penned by Kalonzo Musyoka, Azimio’s delegation team leader, extends an invitation for a meeting on Monday, August 7, 2023. Time,11 am in Nairobi’s Serena Hotel.
Both coalitions have already assembled their respective teams to represent them and listed the issues they want to address during the talks. Azimio acknowledges the differing opinions but emphasizes the urgency of starting the dialogue promptly to ease the concerns of their supporters. The purpose of the talks is to diagnose and propose solutions to the issues raised by both parties, which have been affecting the nation.
Kalonzo Musyoka stresses the importance of a time-bound process. Thus ensuring commitment from both coalitions. The goal is to conclude the talks by the end of August 2023.

The Kenya Kwanza National Dialogue Team has presented various issues for discussion, including;
- Re-constitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)
- Implementation of the two-thirds gender rule in Parliament
- Incorporating the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) into the Constitution
- Creating the office of the Leader of the Opposition
- Embedding the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary
In response, Azimio has listed its priorities, which consist;
- Reducing the cost of living
- Conducting an audit of the 2022 elections
- Achieving a bipartisan reconstitution of the IEBC
- Ensuring inclusion in national affairs while upholding respect for political parties.
“While a lot of hardworking will be needed to resolve issues at hand, we believe a speedy start and a time bound program is necessary to put the nation at ease. Consequently, we believe this process should come to an end at the close of August 2023. We believe that if all concerned show the courage and commitment, there is now a real chance that before the 1st of September, Kenya will be reunited. We remain committed to negotiating in good faith.”

National Assembly Majority Leader Ichung’wa confirms that he has been in communication with the Azimio delegation leader. He added that they are working to finalize a mutually agreeable date to commence the talks.
