Two Dead, 52 Injured In Nairobi-Nakuru Highway Accident

Two individuals lost their lives in a devastating road accident on Friday night, while 52 others sustained injuries. The incident, which occurred at Muguga, along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, involved a collision between multiple vehicles, including a school bus carrying 44 students.

According to reports, a priest and his wife tragically died at the scene. This is after a trailer experiencing brake failure, crashed into their car. The accident involved a total of 20 vehicles, resulting in significant damage and casualties.

Two of the twenty vehicles involved in the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway coalition. Two are said to be dead and over 50 others injured following the accident.

Among the injured were two students from Twilight Secondary School in Kayole, Nairobi County. The two are currently receiving medical treatment at PCEA Kikuyu Hospital. Confirming the incident, Kikuyu sub-county Police Commander Ronald Kirui stated that investigations have commenced and two truck drivers have been implicated.

Commander Kirui urged all drivers to prioritize driving discipline. He emphasized on the importance of preventing the loss of innocent lives on Kenyan roads. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the consequences that can arise from negligence and a lack of caution while driving.

In response to the incident, local residents have called upon relevant authorities, particularly, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA). Muguga locals urged KeNHA to expedite the completion of the road construction project. They stressed the urgent need for the establishment of service lanes to enhance safety and prevent future loss of lives.
