This is Michelle Obama’s first nomination for the Emmy Awards in the show that was named after her book. The show was filmed at the end of her book tour where she sat down with Oprah Winfrey and spoke about her life and experiences as documented in her book. The 59-year-old faces stiff competition in her category as she goes up against David Letterman for his special ‘My Guest Needs No Introduction‘ and Stanley Tucci for his work in ‘Searching for Italy’ among other nominees.
Barrack Obama also faces stiff competition in his nominated category of the Outstanding Narrator as he is going against Morgan Freeman and Angela Bassett. The three of them have all been nominated for the category before. Morgan Freeman has received one nomination while Angela Bassett has received two for the narrator nomination. Obama was last year nominated in the same category alongside Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong’o.
