Leigh-Anne Pinnock has been awarded an honorary doctorate in the arts by Buckinghamshire New University amidst other hundreds of graduates.
The Little Mix artist was awarded a recognition crown for her anti-racism and racial equality work. She has been the co-founder of The Black Fund charity, which supports organizations that are “shaping, changing, and supporting the lives of the black community in the UK”.

“It’s such a privilege to be recognized by such a credible, creative, and supportive university I am extremely happy and proud to be here today,” she said.
Leigh-Anne gave a story of how she experienced racism while growing up and as the only black girl in her musical band. That was her inspiration as she was a mirror to many students’ experiences.

The star mentioned that she’s grateful for her successful music career and it’s a reward seeing her campaigns being recognized.
“And while I am blessed to have had a successful recording career, it is so rewarding that it’s my work as a campaigner for racial equality and anti-racism that is being recognized today,” she said.

Leighn-Anne was a member of Little Mix which took a break in 2021, has also released her first solo, “Don’t Say, Love“.Breakthrough seems to be her new charm. She advised her fellow graduates, “Whatever your goals are, the most important thing you can do is believe in yourself and surround yourself with others who believe in you too”.
