Lang’ata Member of Parliament Jalang’o has recounted his friendship with Tanzanian hitmaker, Diamond Platnumz.
In a conversation, Felix Odiwour said the two met during an event in Malindi at a show called Mr and Mrs Coast. At that point, Diamond was just a local artist and had barely gained fame.

According to Jalas, after the show, the promoter went away with their money leaving him and Diamond Platnumz stranded. Fortunately, the two got to know each other after the show and their friendship kicked off from this incident.
“Diamond mara ya kwanza kukutana, tulikuwa tumeitiwa show Malindi. Ilikuwa inaitwa Mr na Mrs Coast…kitu kama hiyo. Mfadhili akatutoka, mimi na Diamond tukapanda Voxy mpaka Mombasa. Alikuwa na ngoma kama mbili, tatu watu walikuwa wanajua. Hiyo ni miaka mingi sana iliyopita, Zaidi ya kumi sasa, 12 hivi kama sijakosea,” Jalang’o said.

Jalang’o and Diamond’s friendship erupted after the scandal at the coast and so far, it’s been a productive interaction and collaboration.
Diamond expressed his gratitude to MP Jalang’o by rewarding him with a lucrative deal. In 2018, Diamond was launching his album “A Boy from Tandale” and announced Jalang’o as his official MC.
Jalas remarked that he commits to nurturing relationships and ensuring that those who have made a difference in his life remain close to his heart.
“I don’t burn bridges. I always make sure that every person who has been around me and has had a positive impact on my life remains a part of it,” he said.
Diamond’s hit songs
The recent song “My Baby” has hit 1.4 million views in just 4 months. The Zuwena hitmaker expresses his feelings for the love of his life calling her “Kipendacho roho”. Compared to the other songs he has released this year; this has had a lower viewing on YouTube.
In addition, his fans have expressed their love saying the song has zero nudity and it’s a masterpiece of joy, life and real experience.
“Yatapita” has hit 21 million views in 5 months and “Zuwena” hit 21 million views on YouTube.
