The minister arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the 20th of July where he engaged in talks with Ethiopia’s Prime Minister. He emphasized on China’s dedication to bolstering strategic coordination and deepening pragmatic cooperation across various sectors. The discussions with Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister aimed to reinforce existing mechanisms for collaboration.

Continuing his diplomatic mission, the Chinese Foreign Minister flew to Nairobi, Kenya, where he met with President William Ruto. The two leaders pledged to further their Belt on road cooperation, propelling their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new heights in the modern era. The Chinese minister also held bilateral meetings with Kenya’s Foreign Minister, Alfred and emphasized on the commitment to strengthen ties between China and Kenya.

In Johannesburg, South Africa, the Chinese Foreign Minister presided over a BRICS meeting as South Africa assumed the chairmanship. During a phone call with President Cyril Ramaphosa, both sides vowed to intensify cooperation, promoting development and progress in bilateral relations, while nurturing the long-standing China-Africa friendship.

The visit showcased the importance of South Africa as the new chair of BRICS, offering an opportunity for China to engage with numerous global platforms.
