1. Dairy Products
These include but are not limited to products like milk, cheese, and yoghurts.
Research has proven consuming dairy products elevates IGF-1, or insulin-like growth factor-1, levels. The IGF-1 is responsible for an increased risk of prostate cancer in men.
2. Red Meat
Red meat includes a wide range of meats including beef, lamb, and pork. Red meat has been classified as a Group 2A carcinogen meaning that it has been absolutely determined to be the cause of cancer but its consumption could be a ‘probable’ cause of cancer.
Experts say that individuals can reduce the carcinogenic effect of red meat by substituting their meals with other proteins such as eggs, fish, lentils, and chicken from time to time.
3. Sugar
The sugar contained in foods such as baked goods like bread and cake and also sweetened drinks has been attributed to causing inflammation in the body, which ultimately may cause diabetes.
The inflammation caused by the presence of diabetes in an individual’s body is said to be the cause of certain types of cancers such as ovarian, breast, and uterine cancer in women. A recent report by Reuters determined that aspartame, a drink sweetener used by manufacturers may be declared carcinogenic.
