The Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, will release the results at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi. Placement of the students is done through the placement agency Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (Kuccps).

Kuccps finalised the placement exercise after the allowance for the third revision of courses and institutions. Students are given three opportunities to apply through the Kuccps and revise their course. The first time is before sitting for the national examination. The second time, one can rethink their choices after receiving their results and choose a course in universities they have qualified for. Finally, after the student has had some time to think of the course they want to do, they can either maintain their choice or change it one last time.

Students can now view which universities they have been placed in. They will then have a month to prepare for joining their institutions. Tertiary institutions begin their semester calendars in September therefore, students will join the institutions then.

Application For Sponsorships

Alongside this, Mr Machogu will launch a new portal for students to apply for scholarships and loans from the Higher Education Loans Board and the Universities Fund. They will be the first group to use the new funding model for higher education introduced by the Kenya Kwanza government.

The state ordered the cessation of automatic capitation on all government-sponsored students. Previously, after the allocation of the universities, all students who scored above a C+ were placed by Kuccps as government-sponsored. The state would pay their tuition fee while the students pay a fee for other services like medical attention.

With the new government, however, a student’s eligibility for a loan service will solely depend on their economic background.
