In February 2023, Pietro Becarri, CEO of Louis Vuitton appointed Pharrell Williams as the creative director of menswear Louis Vuitton replacing the late, Virgil Abloh. Pharrell on his notes said that the show was dedicated to his predecessor.
His first show was at Paris in June 20 that was seen to be the most epic fashion shows ever this year. If you want it, you can have it. If you need it, you can have it. This is what the Voice of Fire, a Virginia choir sang the Pharrell Williams composed song.
The collection was a reflection of his lived experiences as well as his own vast wardrobe. William had said beforehand that his collection was about love. During an interview earlier with Vogue, Pharrell said the collection would have soft leather for the bags, Damier and chessboard patterns that are not celebrated as much. He mentioned that he was not nervous about the show and was thankful for the team he had working with him. He also said;
I’m continuing to give reverence to the universe for sending this my way.

At the show, Pharrell was wearing a green damier pattern head to toe. The show that was at the Pont Neuf had bomber jackets, Louis Vuitton patterns, chessboard, and a lot of camouflage. With bags being the main accessories that did not disappoint. Though Vogue asked in their critic article whether the bags could be taken as a European joke. Pharrell had said earlier;
African-Americans like ownership because we have had everything taken away from us. We were taken and then we had our shit taken from us over and over again: so yeah, possession is a thing for us.

The front row was full of A-list celebrities like Beyonce, Zendaya, Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campbell, Rihanna, ASAP Rocky and Jay Z who even put on a show when he performed.
