Kiambu Deputy Speaker Arrested for Bribery

Lawsuit

The Deputy Speaker of Kiambu County, John Njue Njiru, has been taken into police custody following his arrest on allegations of soliciting a bribe amounting to Ksh.130,000.

Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) apprehended Mr. Njiru, who also serves as the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Hospital Ward in Thika.

According to the EACC, the MCA is accused of demanding the bribe and requesting a portion of valuable land from a woman in Thika.

The purpose behind these demands was to supposedly “facilitate” and grant permission for the woman to undertake any activities on her land, estimated to be worth Ksh.15 million.
