The outgoing Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Robert Kibochi, has officially handed over his position to his successor, General Francis Ogolla.
The colorful change of guard ceremony took place at the Ulinzi Sports Complex-Lang’ata (USC-L) and included a change of guard parade mounted by the Kenya Defence Forces troops, a symbolic handover of the service Flag, and the official signing of the change command certificate.
The outgoing general received a-17 gun salute for his exemplary services during his tenure. General Kibochi’s career spanned 44 years in military service, three of which he served as the CDF.
He has previously held key positions such as the Vice Chief of Defence Forces and Commander Kenya Army.
The Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale praised General Kibochi for his selfless, loyal, and dedicated service to the nation during his tenure.

He also congratulated General Ogolla on his appointment, noting his leadership skills, training, and requisite competency to lead the military to greater heights.
Gen. Ogolla, who is set to take charge of the KDF, expressed his gratitude towards President William Ruto, who is the Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces of Kenya, for entrusting him with the responsibility to lead the KDF.
He also affirmed his readiness and dedication to lead the KDF towards accomplishing the country’s defence goals.
Hon. Aden Duale praised General Kibochi for his outstanding service, commending the retired Chief of Defence Forces for his selfless, loyal, and dedicated service to the nation.

“You have faithfully dedicated 44 years of your life, diligently serving the people of Kenya. A look into your illustrious career shows that Kenya heavily invested in you, by providing training opportunities, from when you were a young officer, through mid-level training leading up to the executive and strategic levels of education,” he said.
General Kibochi leaves behind a rich legacy, including spearheading the modernisation and expansion of the three services and various notable accomplishments.
